Ok. This one is less of a recipe, and more of a life-changer.
Let’s go back to the beginning of the story. A few months ago, my coffee pot broke. Being a student, and a frugal one at that, I didn’t want to buy one right away. Being a student, however, I still needed coffee. So, I used a few cold brew pods I happened to buy on clearance one time.
And my life was changed! Cold brew is so much smoother and less bitter. It’s easy. It’s always ready when you need a cup. I am converted.
I put about a cup of coffee grounds in a mason jar and fill with water. A jar is about 6 cups, so it lasts two days. In the morning when I’m done drinking it, I empty the jar, refill with beans and water, and put it back in the fridge. Could not be easier!
You’ll need a mason jar. I used to use a gallon jar with a lid, until I shattered it in my sink and cut myself. Now, I just use a half-gallon jar and have to refill more often.
One note. You’ll probably go through more coffee than usual making cold brew. However, cold brew does have more caffeine than normal brewed coffee.
- 1/2 cup coffee grounds
- 4 cups water
This is just a ratio. Scale up or down for how much you need.
- Mix the coffee and water. Let steep overnight, or up to three days. Serve and enjoy!
